Effective 15 October 2015, current Sunday Times Political Editor Sthembiso Msomi assumes responsibility as deputy editor of the Sunday Times. With 15 years of experience with Times Media, Msomi takes over from Barry Smit who bolsters the team managing the implementation of Times Media’s new editorial system and enhanced digital capabilities.
Moshoeshoe Monare joins Times Media as Managing Editor for Sunday Times and The Times. Most recently Monare was deputy editor of the Mail & Guardian. He also held the position of Editor at Sunday Independent, as well being Group Political Editor at Independent Newspapers.
Aspasia Karras has been appointed as Publisher of Times Media’s magazine supplements. Karras has spent the last six years as editor of leading lifestyle magazine, Marie Claire. She has also previously held the position as Features Editor of The Times.
Andy Gill, Managing Director at Times Media says magazines expressly produced as supplements in newspapers “represent both revenue and reader growth areas in line with the Group’s past successes, and also reflecting a growing international trend.”
Both Monare and Karras start with Times Media as of 1 November 2015.
